Know this

what i feel for You is
different
from anything that anyone else has ever felt for you --

not better,
not worse,
just different.

it flows from that
part of me
that no one has ever touched before:

that core deep within me that
i had always thought
was
unreachable.

that piece of myself
i kept behind a wall i thought
was unbreakable.

the wall,
that had withstood
so much,
evaporated
at a word
from You.

vanished in the soft caress
of Your voice --

as if it had
never existed
at
all

leaving me exposed,
trembling,
and afraid

i liked my wall--
it kept me safe.

i was secure behind it,
with only the hurts
of the past
and no threat of ones in the future.

i look around me
in awe
at the scattered remnants of that wall.

unsure --
unknowing --
with nowhere to hide
no shelter to seek --
except
in your embrace,
in your eyes.
