chained rose

Respecting truth,
i cannot say Your coming
Transformed,
within the twinkling of an eye,
The dreary world into a place of beauty
Where stars were pins
to hang the rainbows by.
No song of splendour burst upon the instant
You shyly,
for the first time,
touched my lips,
Nor did the cares and worries
ever pressing
Flee at the pressure of
Your fingertips.
Yet, loving truth,
i must, in truth,
remember
How with Your coming,
life seemed newly filled
With more of hope
and
less of routine burdens;
Within myself the old revolt was quite stilled.
Nor can i forget how You firmly,
surely
With steady hand
opened faith's closed door
That i, serene,
might gaze into bright shadow
Where only darkened sunlight was before.
i cannot say Your coming
Transformed,
within the twinkling of an eye,
The dreary world into a place of beauty
Where stars were pins
to hang the rainbows by.
No song of splendour burst upon the instant
You shyly,
for the first time,
touched my lips,
Nor did the cares and worries
ever pressing
Flee at the pressure of
Your fingertips.
Yet, loving truth,
i must, in truth,
remember
How with Your coming,
life seemed newly filled
With more of hope
and
less of routine burdens;
Within myself the old revolt was quite stilled.
Nor can i forget how You firmly,
surely
With steady hand
opened faith's closed door
That i, serene,
might gaze into bright shadow
Where only darkened sunlight was before.
