No

Sue (as in the Johnny Cash song)

Barek
09-13-2010, 12:42 PM
No. I wouldn't want to spend my whole life looking over my shoulder, waiting for my son to catch up to me and shoot me!

Roland

Saffer
09-13-2010, 01:44 PM
Definitely not!

Frank?

James3T
09-13-2010, 02:49 PM
Maybe

Saffer?

Saffer
09-13-2010, 11:00 PM
For sure! Uh, ok, maybe just as a nickname :)

Matthew

James3T
09-14-2010, 01:43 PM
too religious sounding

Harry?

Saffer
09-14-2010, 10:52 PM
Nah, sounds too chimpish.

Edgar?

James3T
09-15-2010, 02:10 PM
Sounds too old fashioned.

George?

Saffer
09-15-2010, 11:22 PM
I quite like George...I don't think I'd name my child George, but I could take it on as a second name for me. I often get calls asking for "George" - weird!

Ummmm....Stephen

Barek
09-16-2010, 11:45 AM
I think so... when I was a kid, I went through the "I don't like my name, I want to be called Steve from now on," phase. Of course, no one listened to me.

Peter

Saffer
09-16-2010, 11:08 PM
Nope, too plain for me.

Kenneth

Barek
09-17-2010, 11:40 AM
Yeah, I kind of like that name.

Edward

James3T
09-18-2010, 10:09 PM
Not really, although Ed as a shortened form is a lot better...

Harold?

Barek
09-19-2010, 04:15 PM
My dads name was Harold, so I'm kinda not sure, but I think ... no

Thomas

scottallen
09-19-2010, 04:20 PM

James3T
09-19-2010, 09:26 PM
Doesn't sound right to me

Julian?

Saffer
09-20-2010, 12:29 AM
Nope - not having read the Famous 5.

Nelson?

James3T
09-21-2010, 09:55 PM
Nope - it's the name of a place in NZ, which would be kinda weird.

Albert

FIN
09-29-2010, 04:30 PM
Nope, to "geeky"

Sue (ala Johnny Cash) ;)

Saffer
10-10-2010, 01:53 AM
Nope, don't think my son would appreciate what many would view as a girls name, when he is older.

However....to carry on the idea - Lindsay? I heard a guy on the radio the other day whose name is Lindsay, and thought it didn't sound too bad.

James3T
10-11-2010, 01:36 PM
I've met a few people with that name, but it's not one I'd choose myself for a son.

Neil?

Saffer
10-12-2010, 09:35 AM
Yea, I would.

Dick? As in short for Richard

James3T
10-13-2010, 05:53 PM
No to Dick, but yes to Richard. If he wanted to use Dick (as his name) then it'd be upto him, but he'd get a load of name calling, especially as a kid.

Arthur?

Barek
10-14-2010, 10:06 AM
No. I think the only person who should ever be named Arthur is a king of England.

Michael

Saffer
10-24-2010, 12:44 AM
Michael is nice, but a bit too mainstream.

Mikael?

Knew a Roland once and always wondered how he tollerated it. The Stephen King made the name famous in recent years. For a son - one sylabol names reflect male strength ------------ Most names come from family heritage or biblical links - they mean something to the parents yet mean little to the child. I like Wes, Josh, James................ My input......

Saffer
02-19-2011, 02:52 PM
Wes - No
Josh - Maybe
James - No

Fred?

injim7pussyass
02-19-2011, 03:05 PM
HAHAHAHAHHAHA FRED ---- Nope What impression comes to mind when you hear a name and is that impression held against the person after meeting him/her...?? Some names don't offer a kind nickname - a George is a George but a Hank can be a Henry. What I can't understand are all these names you can't pronouce (mostly from ethinicity) and even the kids have no idea why but are stuck with them.

Saffer
02-19-2011, 03:12 PM
That would be a no then? A maybe? :)

injim7pussyass
02-19-2011, 03:24 PM
See - that is why we need a better chat place!!!! HAHAHAHHA I guess it is a "maybe" Fred is a strong name but short for Fredrick (and so many other spellings). What is a strong male name to you..?? A name your son would be holding his head up to as people called it..?? Then again, just as in a last name, you live with heritage (we need a spell check in here!!!!) and have the ability to make your name respectable or not. JIM

Saffer
02-19-2011, 03:42 PM
Jim...don't think I'd name my son "Jim" :)

How about Oliver?

Ethan, not a bad name, has a certain classiness to it.

But I want names for my kids that will be their own, and any 'Honor' names go in the middle. Our kids are going to be unique individuals, like everyone else is, and deserve names with proper though--yes, I think about it a lot.
Husband has made it clear that while he feels free to offer suggestions, the final say on names is mine as their Mother. He feels it's only proper given the pregnancy, childbirth and all the other glories good and bad of Motherhood.

Bridgit Astar
12-23-2018, 12:06 PM
Yes, I like Ethan

Jude

Barek
12-26-2018, 08:39 PM
