BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – An undercover officer posing as a prostitute in Alabama tried more than once to run off a 13-year-old boy who asked her for sex, but police say the teen insisted and had to be arrested.
Authorities in Mobile said Wednesday the teenager has been charged with a misdemeanor count of loitering while looking for a prostitute. The next-youngest suspect nabbed in the sting was 22.
Police set up the sting in a residential area last week because of complaints about prostitutes trolling for business. Officer Christopher Levy says it's not clear exactly what the teen said to the officer, or how she responded.
The boy's name was not released because of his age. He was taken to a juvenile detention center and released the same day.
Fifteen people were arrested during the sting.

How many murder, break ins, muggings, and other serious crimes injured real victims while they tied up the officers involved in the sting? How much court time will be wasted. And for what, to look good on paper.

Hopefully, enough to put a stop to the problem, at least in that one particular area. Prostituion is not a victimless crime. Most street prostitutes are involved in drugs and their johns are only adding to the problem, if they are not involved in other crimes as well. And where do we draw the line in enforcement? If prostitution is ignored, shouldn't we also ignore the possession of weed. Or, perhaps we should also ignore coke and crack possession and use. If it's ok to possess crack, how about heroin. Of course if you ignore all drug possession and use, shouldn't the dealers be ignored too.
See where this leads. When and where will we draw the line. Maybe the line will be drawn when the hookers, pimps, and drug dealers start shooting people. Oh wait, they already do. Of course our cops are too busy to investigate all these crimes because they're chasing some poor smuck going 10 MPH over the limit.

Legalise Prostitution in proscribed areas enforce weekly random tox screens and med tests enforce strict laws on the number of women working or employed by individuals (pimps) or companys in the sex industry.
It mite upset the God squad but it will have a real affect on crime and public health. the IRS allready tax women who declare there income from prostitution ( theres more that do than you would belive) so tax revenues will rise.
A lot of countries implement some but not all of the above

I have to agree with espana on this one. Structured, legalized prostitution would put most of the johns and street prostitutes out of business. With proper monitoring and oversight, the established houses could do a roaring business, the women could make a good income and, yes, the IRS could get their share of the take. There would certainly not be a lack of customers.
Houses would have to be established for all levels of income, however, to make sure there is no market for the street hooker. Their inclusion in legalized houses might also prevent them from getting into the drug trade since that is often a result of their emotional reaction to their life-style and the actions of their pimps. Girls addicted to drugs would have to become drug free in order to practice prostitution legally. Drug testing would be done regulary on the girls as well as blood tests to determine their disease status. Condoms would be used for all vaginal and anal penetrations with oral being up to the discretion of the lady involved. I'd also like to see a requirement that the customers be required to provide a blood test report (yes they could be faked, I know), less than 1 month old that indicates they are disease free.
Now, any girls there who want to become employees of Madame Myra's House of Complete Pleasure and Fulfillment?

It's simple unmarked car plain clothes cops just do a few run through every so often and then bam caught in the act arrested. get rid of the source of the problem not the fuel of it.

There are literally dozens of things which should be legalized--prostitution among them, but I don't see it happening in most states. Maybe in the future...

A writer I know did a per capita comparison of the Netherlands and the US. In the netherlands, prostitution is regulated and taxed. At the same rate of taxation, property taxes in the US could be dropped 80 percent.
The Nevada brothels only have to pay a thirty five hundred dollar business license once a year. They have begged the state to tax them, but the state refuses, feeling that taxing prostitution would be recognizing it, as compared to begrudgingly acknowledging it's presence.
What no one has done yet, and here's a good sociology thesis: What are the rates of domestic squabbles in Nevada? Is the rate of sexual assault and man/woman violence lower in Nevada? Or is it the same, or higher than other states? If it's lower, other states might want to go the Nevada route.
With that said, in some states (especially Texas and Florida) strip joints are brothels pretending to be strip joints. Sometimes sex happens in the booths, but it happens often in the VIP or Champagne room.

Regulate and tax prostitute like we do building contractors. Have routine inspections. Alot of welfare recipients are involved in drugs and other crimes, yet they don't need to pass a piss test to collect taxpayer money. Spies were not above using sex to collect information, neither should the police.

Couple of weeks ago a friend of mine a very attractive woman of 25 [young Raquel welch lookalike] was approached by the Madame of a gentelmans nightclub [Whorehouse there legal in spain]
The jist of the conversation was she was offering a job as receptionist her thinking was that Debbie would be a draw being unobtainable the customers would look to the real girls.
When Debbie brought this conversation up at a party was I surprised at the reactions of most of the women present a cross section of Spanish German and English most of whom were telling her to go for it [ The money was realy good ]
Will finish this latter have to go out quickley

I must agree to legalaziation. though, the u.s. should not drop property taxes. government needs all the money it can get. I'm not saying communism or socialism, just tax higher until we're out of our debt. legalizing and regulating prostitution has less problems than legalizing, say marijuana, but... the pro traditional marriage christian (not bashing) government would NEVER legalize anything sexual.
and one thing to help make it safe: state payed abortions for prostitutes who are raped, or an affordable insurance plan with abortion coverage.

The world's oldest profession is prostitution followed by spying. Every attempt to end prostitution has failed - including massacre of pimps and prostitutes and destroying brothels. The business will exist no matter what is done and it results in corruption. Only the rich and influential get to have lots of sex if there is measure clamp down.

Legalize prostitution and make all take medical tests once a month. Safer for everyone and eliminates pimps (the violent losers that kill many girls). I was a high end call girl that paid my taxes and did not do drugs. It's totally not true street girls are all heroin addicts. They may smoke some weed and that's it. Maybe 25% do hard drugs. 50% are clean. Lot of alcoholics.
What pisses me off is society denigrates us women of the night even though we satisfy their limp dick, near impotent husbands' odd fetishes and give them what their wives refuse--sex. Almost all said the same thing, "my wife won't do anything but mission. Can't even eat her." Many of those religious two faced losers who bash us constantly are in cheap hotels paying us with their donation money. It's totally hypocritical.
They blast all sex workers including porn stars while watching on their tvs and computers. Give me a fucking break. Society doesn't treat women with respect overall. It's all speeches filled with bullshit they'll never do. Just lip service. Women are 16-17% of elected officials while women are 53% of the vote. Rape, sexual harassment is rampant. The GOP blocked the Violence Against Women Act renewal just this week hurting poor and immigrant women that are raped and cutting services all over America for rape crises and sex abuse.
Why don't women report rape? It's easier than having your life torn apart by some asshole defense lawyer. Fear, deportation, your life on trial. How many men have you slept with in the last 5 years? Do you like anal sex? Any fetishes? Read porn magazines? Watch porn? WTF does that have to do with some loser raping a woman? It doesn't. Take it or you wanted it, be quiet, be glad you're not dead. Exactly the message to 90% out there.
Give me a break with the "moral minority's" hypocritical do as I say not as I do bullshit. Legalize it and tell the "immoral hypocrites" to shut their fucking mealy mouths and go back to begging for donations so they can drive Bentleys and fly in $60 million private jets from their own airport or pay off the kids King Long raped or fund the pedophile cover-up artist the Roman Catholic church. I am sick of hearing it and so is half the country. Hate, division and ignorance has no place in modern society.
