The Best of Fleetwood Mac. Whenever I listen to them, the image of Stevie Nicks comes to mind and I almost feel I'm physically with her and we're making les love. I have had an intense crush on her for years. She is so damned sexy--she radiates sexuality. Even at age 63, she is incredible-looking.

Love SRV!! 'Pride and Joy' is an amazing song. I really like Bonnie Rait's cover of that on the SRV tribute album.

The Essential Neil Diamond--a fantastic song writer

Was just listening to Solitary Man. Makes my spine tingle.

(I have over the last couple of years starting developing/rediscovering a real thing for 60s pop, which I'd always largely bypassed for more of a rock genre. Likes of Neil Diamond, Gene Pitney, Dusty Springfield, Carpenters... the list goes on. A neat quality about music back then, a kind of simple honesty, almost innocence. Love was love, loneliness was loneliness so on. It's refreshing.)

Brigit Astar
07-13-2011, 04:58 AM
That sounds like me. Over the past couple of years I've started really listening and developing respect and admiration for 60s and 70s music. I think the 70s were more sophisticated than the 60s, but the 60s produced some fantastic music; albeit The Doors with their song Light My Light, which was voted the closest thing to sex on record.

ImmortalBeloved
07-13-2011, 05:22 AM
Ha ha, weird. I was also listening to The Doors tonight, Touch Me. And they are a band I used to listen to quite a lot but hadn't for years. A friend and I were discussing them recently, that they probably don't jump to eveyone's mind as one of the all time greats as often as they should. And an odd thing about them, I can never quite slot their genre exactly.

As a guy, I've always suspected Jim Morrison must be a lot of womens' wet dream. Unusually good looking guy in a 60s kind of way.

07-13-2011, 11:47 AM
You're right Brigit. Neil Diamond is a fantastic song writer. I remember growing up on his music listening to him on my mom's 8-track player.

And can he put on a concert! A real showman.

Brigit Astar
07-13-2011, 01:41 PM
I saw a concert of his on tv. He came out with nothing but a guitar and himself alone, and within 30 seconds he had me jumping to his music.

Berlioz's Symphony Fantasque. It's hard to believe that a European in the 19th century created jazz. I know that a lot of people will proclaim that jazz was created by blacks in the U.S. in the 20th century, but that's simply not true. Berlioz--a Caucasian, created jazz in the Symphony Fantasque. By the way, April I love your October Halloween icon thingy

Great cd! I'll always love the Beatles--I think most do

James Brown's Best. I was too young to see him when he was still living, but I've heard he was dy-no-mite! His voice itself and his songs and his back-up bands were simply great.

Harvest by Neil Young. I love most of the rock music from the '60s and '70s. I was born in 1986, so I wasn't around in those years, but it seems to me that rock music today is just not as prolific and touched by genius in so many groups as the '60s and '70s were. There were dozens of groups making music then that was simply out of this world. Can anyone name me a half-dozen rock groups of today that even approaches the music of the '60s and '70s?
